MEDICARE MODERNIZATION ACT MEDICARE PART D DRUG PROGRAM

Two years ago the Drug Discount Card was initiated by the Administration and, of course, was very confusing to all concerned.  Now, in January 2006, the Medicare Part D Drug Program will be made available to the 43 million Medicare Patients throughout the United States.  This legislation was primarily written by the Drug Manufacturers and PBM's.  With that said Be careful what you sign.  If you are part of a Managed Care Program like EPIC, Leadernet (Cardinal) or PPN (Amerisource-Bergen), then they will review the plans and only sign off on those plans that are beneficial to your businesses bottom-line.  I you are not part of a Managed Care Program read the contracts carefully and beware of plans that are offering you the opportunity to fill Rx's at AWP-23% for a 90 day supply.  Some contracts require you to "opt-out" or they will consider you a participant at fees you cannot afford.

FIRST QUARTER REBATES

Checks were mailed out to 249 stores last week.  The total dollars disbursed was $562,000 & the average check amount amounted to $1984.  Each quarter, the figures are increasing as participation increases.  We all Thank You for your participation.  If you are not a member of Keystone, I hope you realize you are losing $$$$.

LEGISLATION

Our parent company, the PARD has been sending out mailings asking for your help in contacting Pennsylvania legislators about active legislation. Do not let the other guy do it for you.  We must continue the fight to end Mandatory Mail-Order and to stop the Department of Welfare from initiating cuts in reimbursement.  Any questions, just contact the PARD at 215-331-2826.

SAVE A DATE:
