CMS releases non-matched NDC List

CMS/FDA Release the 2010 Non-Matched NDC List…    (Editorial- THESE PEOPLE ARE AMAZING)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted the updated CY 2010 Non-matched NDC list with national drug codes (NDCs) provided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), on the CMS Part D Formulary Guidance website.  CMS will use this updated list to establish new edits beginning on or around January 1, 2010 that will reject prescription drug event (PDE) submissions from Part D sponsors for NDCs identified on the list.  These edits will only apply to PDEs with dates of service on or after January 1, 2010.

Pharmacies can take steps to prepare, including working with suppliers to ensure unlisted products are not offered to Medicare beneficiaries. Editorial - (Like you have nothing else to do but go through a list of 7300 SKU's- CMS is run by people that never walked into a Pharmacy - They must be robots.

The Non-matched NDC list was developed as part of an ongoing joint initiative between CMS and FDA to increase transparency and clarity with respect to the regulatory status of marketed prescription drug products.  CMS plans to update the list at least twice during the 2010 plan year by deleting NDCs that have been registered and listed with the FDA since the fall 2009 posting of the list and removing associated PDE edits.  Removal of edits will apply both retrospectively and prospectively for all dates of service, and additional NDCs will not be added to the CY 2010 Non-matched NDC list during the 2010 plan year.

I have attached the CMS memo to all Part D Plan Sponsors.  You may also refer to the 2010 CMS Call Letter for a more detailed discussion of the initiative.

EVER SINCE MEDICARE PART D BEGAN IN 2006, IT IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A BURDEN. WE NEED TO GET THESE PEOPLE (CMS) TO WORK IN A PHARMACY AND SEE WHAT WE GO THRU ON A DAILY BASIS. IT CAN BE ADDRESSED VER SIMPLY THAT WE DO MORE AND MORE AND MORE WORK AND THE PAY IS LESS AND LESS AND LESS. WHEN WILL IT END!!!! THE ONLY WAY IT WILL CEASE IS BY BOTH CHAIN, INDEPENDENT AND GROCERY STORE PHARMACIES JUST SAY NO. WHEN WE ALL SAY NO MORE, THEN ALL THE PBM'S WHO RUN MEDICARE PART D WILL BE S.O.L!!!!
