Any pharmacy selling OTC products containing pseudoephedrine are required to self-certify the pharmacy every year through the DEA website. Also you are certifying that your employees are familiar with the CMEA regulations. Here is the CMEA certification instructions.
- Go to www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov
- Go to REGISTRATION
- Click on CMEA
- Click on Self-Certification under the REQUIRED TRAINING & SELF-CERTIFICATION Section
- Choose NEW SELF-CERTIFICATION or RE-CERTIFY
If it is a NEW SELF-CERTIFICATION you need only to enter your DEA number. Include the personal information that it ask you to provide.
If it is a RE-CERTIFICATION you will need to include the DEA number, Tax ID, and the Zip Code. Review your personal information. If it tells you that your certificate has expired and can not be renewed, you will need to do a new certificate.
If you don't provide all the required information, it will not permit you to continue to the next step. At the end you can print the certificate. You can also go to the website and reprint a certificate.
