National Community Pharmacists Association Executive Vice President and CEO Kathleen Jaeger today issued the following statement on a U.S. House of Representatives vote to approve legislation passed by the Senate last week to remove pharmacists from the scope of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) “Red Flags” rule: (NCPA)
“Community pharmacists appreciate passage of this bipartisan, bicameral legislative solution exempting pharmacies and other small businesses from the onerous FTC Red Flags rule, which is intended for financial institutions. Thanks to the House yesterday, and the Senate vote last week, community pharmacists can continue providing expert medication counseling and other services without an additional regulatory burden. We also want to offer special thanks for the efforts of Representatives John Adler (D-NJ), Barney Frank (D-MA), Spencer Bachus (R-AL) and the House leadership.”
