NCPA Meets with 340B Program Leadership: This week NCPA along with other stakeholders met with the leadership of the 340B program to continue the dialogue regarding current program issues. It is anticipated that HRSA will release soon a new proposed definition of individuals that are eligible to obtain 340B drugs.

340B program is being abused by prescribers "steering" rxs for insured patients to their in house dispensaries that are sharing the reimbursement with them. Program was designed to provide medications for the uninsured. In my area there is an HIV clinic that sends all their rxs to one of these contractors. There are several health clinics doing the same at community pharmacy's expense. The insurers, such as Health Partners, Bravo, etc, reimbuse them at the same rates we receive. Yet they buy at 340B prices and are making an outrageous profit at taxpayers expense. Yet this is all legal thanks to the brains in D.C.
