In a Sept. 20 letter to the Federal Trade Commission, national consumer organizations wrote that the proposed Express Scripts-Medco merger "would significantly reduce competition in the PBM [pharmacy benefit manager] market and harm consumers." Consumers Union, Consumer Federation of America, U.S. PIRG, National Consumers League and NLARx co-signed the letter. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition and the Internet was preparing to continue Congress' review of the proposed merger, which already is under close scrutiny by FTC. Dennis Wiesner, senior director of privacy, pharmacy and government affairs for NACDS member H-E-B, is testifying at the Subcommittee's hearing, which begins at 3:30 p.m. (EDT). Consumer Group Letter
