The opioid epidemic is having an ongoing serious impact on communities throughout the United States. Opioid overdoses and deaths affect the entire population, including Medicare beneficiaries, of the states served by Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network – Delaware, Louisiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Our healthcare system has responded with efforts to educate healthcare providers, patients, and the general public about the risks of opioids and appropriate prescribing as well as to increase recognition of opioid use disorder and expanding treatment opportunities.

The opioid crisis has also had implications for the public safety and criminal justice systems. Michael G. Noone, Chester County (PA) First Assistant District Attorney, Chester County Justice Center will discuss the origins of the current opioid and heroin epidemic and ways to combat it. He will also describe the work of the Chester County Overdose Taskforce.

Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network is unable to offer continuing education credits for this webinar, but we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about an important component for addressing the opioid problem.
