OTC Refresh Tips

Check to see if your POS is up to date!

Check sales reports to find slow movers, consolidate lines and find new products to boost sales.

Compare sales from this month last year to current month. Fine tune your order strategy to ensure you have the right product on hand for the season.

Then do a shelf review, check for out of dates in your OTC products, dust boxes, wash down shelves,  and return any sun faded product.

Look at your back room inventory. Is it high moving items or just taking up space? Return or put on clearance any non movers.

March Pharmacy Tips

Warmer Weather=Allergies. Ensure you have your allergy medicines well stocked and up to date. Don’t forget the nasal sprays and tissues!

Wound Care=high profit margin. Increase your wound care section and reach out to local doctors, wound centers, ERs, assisted living, and orthopedic office to get product ideas and preferences.

Enhance your wound care section by cross promoting with the following vitamins that enhance healing: Vitamin C, Zinc, Omega, L-glutamate protein

Easter is April 4th. Have your easter candy and other small gift ideas in a display.

April Pharmacy Tips
  • Review your vitamin lines. If you have multiple lines, do an evaluation as to what is selling vs not.
  • Increase profits by featuring high end vitamins. Feature Multi-vitamin, CoQ10, B12 methylcobalamin, and immune booster with price point over $20. Sign with “Our Pharmacist Recommends”
  • Format Banners like a Billboard–Simple is best. If under low lighting, use a black background with white lettering.
  • Place the most requested OTCs behind the RX pickup area. That will make it easier to add in requested products before bringing to the customer.
  • Remind patients that their FSA or HSA can be used for OTC and Menstrual products
  • Allergy season is underway. Ensure you have adequate supply of allergy meds, tissues, nasal sprays
